Today it is a high-performance, service-oriented professional institution that offers a wide range of services for the market research sector including the following: market observation for innovations, promotion of exchange of experience as well as further education via seminars, the Congress of German Market Research, the BVM promotion prize or the monthly regional meetings.Furthermore, the BVM represents the market research profession in the German society and protects the working conditions of all market researchers and opinion researchers.

With more than 4900 members in over 130 countries, ESOMAR’s aim is to promote the value of market and opinion research in illuminating real issues and bringing about effective decision-making. Industry-specific and thematic conferences, publications and communications as well as actively advocating self-regulation and the worldwide code of practice are important parts of ESOMAR’s work. ESOMAR was founded in 1948.
